Strong Measures For Safer Turf

Fire ants are a highly invasive pest that can spread easily through soil, turf and landscaping materials if not properly managed. To ensure safe turf supply, Ballina Turf Farm strictly follows the latest guidelines set by DAF QLD and FireAnts.org.au.

We work closely with trusted suppliers and implement best-practice procedures when sourcing and delivering turf. This includes rigorous checks and compliance with all movement restrictions to prevent the accidental spread of fire ants.

When you choose Ballina Turf Farm, you can trust that your new lawn is safe, clean and compliant.

Fire Ant information

As we are one of the major suppliers of turf in the Northern Rivers region, we take the threat of fire ants very seriously and are complying with all biosecurity practices recommended by NSW DPI.

As part of our operation, we are obliged to supply NSW DPI with records of movement certificates detailing the types and amounts of turf leaving our farm and delivery addresses in this region.

We can supply our customers a copy of this record at any time.

So what do you need to do?

In accordance with Biosecurity Order 1 for 2025, it is a requirement by law to lay your turf upon delivery and follow up with an application of an APVMA-approved granular insecticide such as Monarch G Insecticide or Richgro Ant Killa.
